Layla 6.12.3 redesigns the Personalities Hub, the mini-app where you browse and manage characters. Browsing is now organized around popular tags, and the upload flow has been reworked so you can view and manage characters you have added from the same place.
You can visit the browser version directly here: https://chat.layla-cloud.com

If you have a large character library, or you are coming to Layla looking for an offline alternative to cloud character apps, this update is about making the part of the app where characters live easier to move around in.
What the Personalities Hub is
The Personalities Hub is Layla's character library. It is where you find the characters you chat with, whether they ship with the app, were uploaded by other people, or were created and added by you. Because Layla runs models on-device, the characters you browse here are ones you can talk to fully offline, with no account and no cloud round-trip for inference.
As that library grows, discovery becomes the bottleneck. A character you would enjoy is not useful if you cannot find it. This release addresses that directly.
Browsing by popular tags
The Hub is now built around popular tags rather than a single long list to scroll through. Instead of working your way down the screen, you filter by the tags people actually use and narrow to the kind of character you are after — a genre, a scenario type, a personality.
The practical effect is faster discovery and a clearer view of what is available. Tag-based filtering also scales better than scrolling: the more characters there are, the more a good filter matters, and the redesign is aimed at keeping the Hub usable as the catalogue gets larger.

Managing the characters you have uploaded
The upload flow has been updated so your own characters are easier to handle. After uploading, you can view and manage the characters you have added directly from the Personalities Hub mini-app, rather than tracking them down somewhere else in the app.
If you build or import a lot of characters — your own creations, or TavernPNG cards from elsewhere — this keeps creating, finding, and tidying up in the same surface instead of spread across the app.
Bug fixes
Fixed TavernPNG downloads from chat.layla-cloud.com, so character-card downloads from there work again.
Fixed an issue that incorrectly disabled OpenCL on non-Snapdragon phones, restoring GPU acceleration on the affected devices.
FAQ
Where do I find characters in Layla?
In the Personalities Hub mini-app. It holds the characters that ship with Layla, characters uploaded by others, and any you have created or imported yourself.
Can I use my own characters?
Yes. You can create characters in Layla or import existing ones, and as of 6.12.3 you can view and manage your uploaded characters from the Personalities Hub directly.
Do the characters work offline?
Yes. Layla runs language models on-device, so you can browse and chat with characters without an internet connection and without sending your conversations to a server.
The New Personalities Hub is not showing for me in my app
The new hub will only show if you are using the direct APK version of Layla. Google and Apple versions will only show a tutorial on how to visit the site and importing TavernPNG characters. This is by design, as the characters in the Personalities Hub may not be for all audiences. You can visit the site https://chat.layla-cloud.com in your browser and download the characters as TavernPNG at any time!
Layla is an offline AI for Android and iOS: your characters, your conversations, and the model itself all run on your own device.
